Holiday apartments in Spiez – bay, vineyards and Lake Thun

Mornings by the lake, afternoons among vineyards and at the castle. Spiez combines relaxed days by the water with excursions into the Bernese Oberland – for a holiday at your own pace.

Your Spiez apartment – between the bay and vineyards

Spiez brings together a lakeside bay, vineyards and a castle above the water. Spend a day walking by the shore, discovering local wine culture or combining a castle visit with the park.

Faulensee is part of the municipality of Spiez and offers another lakeside base. Choose your apartment for its actual village, sleeping arrangements and confirmed features; the bay and the waterfront are not the setting of every apartment.

Things to do around Spiez

Spiez bay: time beside the lake

The bay brings the lakeshore, boats and views of the castle together. Take a walk by the water and leave time for a pause rather than filling the whole day with outings. For a more active afternoon, check the current local water-sports offering.

Spiez Castle: history above the lake

Museum, castle church and park form the historic ensemble above the bay. Combine a cultural visit with time in the grounds for a day that offers more than lake views. Check which areas are open during your stay.

Vineyards: discover local wine culture

The vineyard sensory trail connects Spiez’s wine-growing slopes with information about local wine culture. It gives a walk a clear theme and a view of the lake landscape. A visit to the vineyards does not automatically include a tasting; arrange that separately if you wish.

Lake Thun by boat

A BLS boat trip changes your perspective on the villages, castles and mountains. Choose a cruise or combine a sailing with a visit to another shore village. Check the seasonal timetable and return journey before leaving.

Niesen: add a mountain day

The Niesen funicular reaches the mountain above Lake Thun. Summit views give your lakeside stay a broader perspective on the Bernese Oberland. Choose suitable weather and check the operating season before planning your trip.

Strandweg: walk from Spiez to Faulensee

The flat Strandweg links Spiez and Faulensee along the water, passing trees, sculptures and benches. It is a concrete choice for a relaxed lakeside walk between the two villages. There is no winter maintenance, so check conditions if you visit in winter.

Your questions about Spiez

Yes. Faulensee is part of the municipality of Spiez. Cards still show the actual village so you can distinguish a Spiez stay from one in Faulensee. The apartment pages give the individual location and sleeping arrangements.

Belle du Lac is one starting point in Spiez. Compare its photographs, confirmed features and sleeping arrangements with the other apartments. For a Faulensee alternative, look at Bijou Lake Side Faulensee; the village and individual access details matter more than the name alone.

Spiez is reachable by train. Check the journey from the station to your actual apartment, as the bay, station and village districts are not the same location. Buses and seasonal boat services can complement outings when their connections suit your plans.

Choose the castle and vineyard trail for a day of local culture, then spend time in the bay. The Strandweg towards Faulensee is another option if you want a longer lakeside walk. Plan museum opening separately; a walk does not automatically include access to the castle buildings.

Spiez is a lakeside base, not a promise of skiing beside the apartment. The Strandweg has no winter maintenance, and boats, the castle museum and the Niesen funicular have their own seasonal arrangements. Check conditions and opening before setting your day’s programme.
